A forecourt is the hardest lighting environment we sell into. Direct sun, glass on three sides and a customer reading from ten metres away — a screen specified for an office will be a dark rectangle by lunchtime.

The other half of the job is that your stock changes weekly. Window cards go out of date the moment a car sells, and a screen does not.

Before you buy

What screens for car showrooms actually need

Specify for the light, not the room

Forecourt-facing glass needs high-brightness or outdoor-rated panels. This is the one place where paying more for brightness is not an upsell.

Weatherproofing if it goes outside

An outdoor-rated unit is a different product from an indoor one behind glass — different sealing, different cooling, different price. Be clear which you are buying.

Big enough to read from the pavement

Ten metres away means 65 inches and up in most cases, which is above the online ceiling and quoted after a survey.

Power and mounting planned first

Freestanding totems and anything on a forecourt need a power route and a fixing that will hold in wind. That is a survey, not a delivery.

Indoor screen behind glass, or an outdoor unit?

Behind glass in a heated showroom, a high-brightness indoor panel is usually right and much cheaper. Anything actually exposed — a forecourt totem, an A-board left out overnight — needs an outdoor-rated unit. We will tell you which after a survey rather than sell you the dearer one by default.

Why can I not buy the big sizes online?

Anything over £1,500 ex VAT, anything needing fitters, power work or a structural fixing, and anything sized to your building is quoted after a survey. That is deliberate — those jobs go wrong when they are bought blind.

Do you install?

Yes, with our own fitters rather than a subcontractor. Installation is quoted with the screens once we have seen the site.
